Hearing the Word

Apr 26, 2026    Pastor Joe Scott

You can read the Bible cover to cover and still feel like God isn't speaking to you. This message names why — and what to do about it.

Pastor Joe walks through two Greek words for "word" used in Scripture: logos, the eternal written Word, and rhema, the fresh, personal word God speaks into a specific moment in your life. One without the other leaves you stuck. He traces both through John 1, Revelation 19, and Ephesians 6, then tells the story of the rhema word God gave him 27 years ago in the middle of a traumatic divorce — a single sentence dropped into his spirit on I-95 that, 24 years later, made him chief of police of the very agency God had pointed to that day. The arc lands on a practical promise: if you stay rooted in the written Word, God will speak personally into what you're carrying. The message closes with four ways to position yourself to actually hear Him.
